The Lamborghini Aventador is already an outrageously superlative piece of hardware, and the Italian sports car maker is about to up the ante with the limited-edition LP720-4 50 Anniversario model. The special Aventador is set to make its debut in Shanghai this week, and these leaked photos from German publication Autobild give us our first glimpse of the new supercar finished in the loudest shade of yellow known to man.
As its name suggests, at least the part that’s not a jumble of numbers and letters, the Aventador LP720-4 50 Anniversario commemorates Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary. The “720” part is important too, according to Autobild, denoting 720 PS (710 hp by SAE measurement). That’s an increase of 19 hp compared to the standard model. It’s said that just 100 units are slated for production, and the car’s 0-62 mph time is estimated – perhaps conservatively – at 2.9 seconds. As the pictures show, the special-edition Lambo gets a two-tone treatment with black aero bits including a more aggressive-looking front valance and rear end.
Further details will have to wait until we get official info from Lamborghini. Until then, enjoy these leaked images in all their vividly yellow glory.
