 Audi announces support for the U.S. DTM Series with plans to race by 2016
Audi has announced their support of a U.S. racing series which would feature DTM race cars.
Described as a "promising opportunity in motorsport," Audi says the proposed series - from the organizers of NASCAR and GRAND-AM - is "of interest" to the company. A lot of details still need to be worked out, but the series could be launched by 2016.
In a statement, Audi of America President Scott Keogh said "Audi has a strong and spectacular history in US motorsport. We are currently looking for options that will allow the four rings to be more visible again on the race tracks throughout the USA. It’s fantastic news that there could soon be a US DTM." He added, "The Audi RS models are very popular in America. I’m convinced that our customers will be delighted to see theAudi RS 5 DTM in action.”
