The industry experts have picked their winners, with the Jaguar F-Type collecting the annual World Car Design award.
The sought-after World Car of the Year award for 2013 has gone to the seventh-generation VW Golf, the second year in a row Volkswagen has collected the hardware with its Up! supermini taking top honors in 2012. Sixty-six leading auto journalists from around the world make up the panel that selects and votes for the best cars of the year. Along with selecting the WCOTY, the World Performance Car, World Green Car and World Car Design of the Year awards have also been announced.
Picking up the 2013 World Performance Car award was the Porsche Boxster/Cayman, which was chosen over the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and Toyota GT86/Scion FR-S/Subaru BR-Z. The World Green Car award, unsurprisingly, went to the Tesla Model S, which easily beat competition from the Renault Zoe and Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid. The annual World Car Design award for 2013 quite rightly went to the stunning Jaguar F-Type, besting other pretty finalists, the Aston Martin Vanquish and Mazda6.
