Toyota Teases 2014 Highlander Before New York Auto Show Reveal

The Toyota Highlander plays in the crowded midsize crossover class, and it appears the newest model may have bolder styling to help keep it ahead. Before its 2013 New York auto show reveal, the 2014 Toyota Highlander has been teased with the front grille and headlight photo shown here. Toyota’s teaser image shows a slim, pulled-back headlight that’s directly connected to what appears to be a far more interesting grille than has ever been used on a Highlander. Chrome trim lines the top and bottom of the 2014 Highlander’s grille. For the 2014 model year, Toyota’s midsize crossover (with an occasional-use third-row seat) will do battle with the Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-9, and Chevrolet Traverse. We expect the car’s powertrain lineup to carry over with just a few tweaks to improve mileage from the I-4, V-6, and V-6 hybrid. In other Toyota news, the automaker is hoping to get consumers interested in the 2013 Corolla with two special-edition models, both of which arrive toward the end of April with a base price of $21,345 including destination. The 2013 Toyota Corolla S Special Edition has 17-inch wheels, a touch-screen display with navigation and Entune, Sport fabric seats, special floor mats, badges, and Hot Lava paint. Go for the identically priced 2013 Toyota Corolla LE Special Edition and you’ll get 16-inch wheels, power and heated beige leather seats, Black Currant Metallic paint, a touch-screen display with navigation and a three-year subscription to Entune. Toyota plans to make 2250 2013 Corolla LE and 5250 2013 Corolla S special-edition models.
