Volkswagen Polo updated

Volkswagen Polo 2013 front quarter
The Volkswagen Polo range has been updated, making the popular city car better value than ever before.
Along with extra equipment on top-spec models, the company is also introducing a new Polo R-Line Style specification. It aims to appeal to younger buyers by offering the sporty design of the mid-spec R-Line model, but with smaller engines and reduced equipment for lower insurance premiums.
Based on the Polo S, the Polo R-Line Style adds a sporty body kit, body-coloured trim, 16-inch alloy wheels and Bluetooth connectivity. It’ll cost from £11,740 and is available in four colours – Flash Red, Candy White, Nimbus Grey and Deep Black Pearl. Like the base-spec S, air-con is an optional extra.
While the existing Polo R-Line is only available with the turbocharged 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine, the Polo R-line Style will come with a choice of 1.2-litre petrol engines, tuned to either 59bhp or 69bhp, in an effort to reduce insurance costs for young drivers. The two cars fall into group 5E and 8E, respectively.
Elsewhere, VW is now including cruise control and rear parking sensors on all SEL, R-Line, BlueGT and GTI models, for no extra cost. The Polo BlueMotion and Polo Match Edition add the same equipment, plus an alarm as standard, for an increase of just £135.
