The all-wheel-drive 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG coupe-like four-door will start at $48,375, including destination, when it goes on sale this November. That’s a $17,550 premium over the 208-hp front-drive CLA250’s $30,825 base price as well as a $6070 premium over the rear-drive 302-hp C350 Sport Sedan, which starts at $42,305.
The CLA45 AMG is motivated by a 355-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and the automaker’s 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. Standard equipment includes a 5.8-inch screen, Bluetooth, power front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, anthracite trim, dual exhaust with chrome tips, and 18-inch alloy wheels with all-season run-flat tires.
Pricing hasn’t been released for the 2014 CLA45 AMG’s three available packages (Premium, Driver Assistance, and Multimedia), but their content has been revealed. The Premium package includes iPod/MP3 hookup, satellite radio, harman/kardon audio system, heated front seats, auto-dimming mirrors, integrated garage door opener, dual-zone climate control, and compass. Adaptive cruise control, blind spot assist, and lane keeping assist are included in the Driver Assistance package. The Multimedia package features the COMAND system with seven-inch display, navigation, voice control, SD card slot, six-disc in-dash CD player, 10 gb of music storage, rearview camera, and SiriusXM Traffic and Weather.
A panoramic moonroof, burl walnut or black ash wood trim, HID headlights with LED daytime running lights, Becker MAP Pilot, and summer tires are among the stand-alone options. Mercedes will be happy to sell you a CLA45 AMG with a package that adds real carbon fiber exterior accents as well as 19-inch wheels finished in titanium gray or matte black.
Though $48,375 may seem a bit steep for the baby AMG, the CLA45 AMG is $14,030 less than the 2013 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Sedan, which starts at $62,405 (including destination and a $1700 gas guzzler tax), and is the least expensive AMG model currently available in the U.S.
