NHRA-Certified Chevrolet Camaro Rolling Chassis Available for $55,000

Drag racers and Chevy fans, take notice: Chevrolet is building NHRA-certified Camaro rolling chassis, but if you wait too long, they may be all gone, just like the 2013 COPO Camaro. Priced at $55,000, the rolling chassis will go on sale on Thursday March 28 at noon EDT. For those who want to go drag racing but want some help getting started, the Camaro rolling chassis might be one solution. “Add your powertrain assembly and you’ve got a race car that’s ready to tackle the drag strip,” said Jim Campbell, GM’s U.S. VP of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. Campbell says Chevrolet is only going to build “a few of them.”
Starting on March 28 at noon EDT, interested consumers can call 1-800-306-3005 to place their orders. The sale can be completed at any Chevrolet dealership, but customers must pick up the completed rolling chassis in the Detroit area, and GM notes that each one lacks a VIN, so don’t expect to transform it for road use. Every Camaro rolling chassis includes an NHRA-approved roll cage as well as NHRA-approved brakes and a solid rear axle (minus the third member). Each is painted white and includes Bogart racing wheels on Hoosier tires, production headlights/taillights, production window glass, and basic body and chassis wiring. Chevrolet Performance is happy to complete the rolling chassis, with parts all racers will definitely need: -Engine and air inlet system -Engine mounts -Engine controller and wire harness -Exhaust headers -Coolant hoses (a radiator is included) -Transmission and shifter assembly -Driveshaft -Differential third member Chevrolet’s LS engines are offered from 325 hp to 425 hp, with supercharged variants offered as well.
